There is a Friend Who Sticks Closer than a Brother

I have been learning some valuable lessons here in Kiev. I am truly blessed by the friends I have here, and will miss them in a few months when I return to Texas. God puts people in our lives at various times for various reasons, and we need to always be on the lookout for how we can serve those around us.

I wanted to share with you some insightful quotes from my friends from the past week:

“We need to value the ones who are close to us” – Max, after he had just called his sister on Skype to wish her a happy birthday. He played music over the speakers and danced in front of the camera, I could hear it from my room.

At youth group on Sunday, we talked about the relationships we have been friends and between families, and how those relationships are so much stronger when based on the strong foundation we have in Christ.

“We need to use all of our gifts and talents to the maximum” – Olga. I hadn’t seen my friend for almost 4 months, but we met at McDonalds this week and she shared this piece of wisdom. In context, she was explaining why she wants to study English and piano again, in order to use the abilities she has as best as she can, for God’s use.

“Our love is a result of a proper understanding of grace” – Vova. During our morning student devotion time this week, Igor asked us to describe what love is. I liked Vova’s explanation the best.

“Think of yourself as a penguin and you’ll be alright” – Elvira.

  1. Love the quotes! But you did not give a context for Elvira’s…did you break a tailbone? Or just a nasty fall? Or some preventative advice! That is a lot of snow! Love and prayers!
